Meeting of the Energetic Cluster
29 November 2011
A meeting of the founders of the “Lubusian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Cluster” took place on the 25th of November 2011 in the LUG Light Factory main office in the Zielona Góra economic zone. This is the second meeting of its type. The result of the first meeting was the establishment of Founding Committee and passing the Statute. The second meeting was devoted to discussing the strategy and directions for the cluster’s development.
Participants of the meeting included: Izabela Wojewoda – vice-president for development of the PWSZ in Sulechów, Hanna Nowicka – Management Board Chair of the Regional Development Agency S.A., Wiesław Miczulski – president of the PWSZ in Sulechów, Prof. Marian Miłek from the PWSZ in Sulechów and representatives of Lubusian companies: Mazel, UESA Polska, Kaczmarek Electric, Polhaus Potocki, Gamp. The meeting was hosted by Ryszard Wtorkowski, President of the LUG Light Factory Company.
During the meeting, the participants established 3 basic directions for the cluster’s operation. In the area of renewable energy and island (dispersed) technology the cluster will focus on the introduction and promotion of biogas plants and solar cells. In the area of energy efficiency, the cluster will promote energy-efficient products for street illumination carried out through ESCO (Energy Service Company) type services. These services will allow the public sector to finance, through private partners, investments intended to improve energy efficiency, which will be paid from the funds saved thanks to the reduction of energy costs. During the meeting the participants also developed a draft of the strategy which in the subsequent stage will be passed by the cluster members.
- “We have an abundance of ideas for the use of the cluster’s potential. We do not want it to be only an artificial creation functioning only on paper. We want to act, develop, promote energy efficiency, as well as innovativeness in the Lubusian Viovodeship. I hope that our actions will contribute to the advancement of the region among innovative voivodeships, all the while taking advantage of the opportunities arising from our cooperation” – summarizes Ryszard Wtorkowski.
Among the arguments presented by the involved business owners there was also cooperation in terms of staff education on a post-secondary school and higher education level, as well as cooperation with local authority and state administrative organizations, educational institutions and non-government organizations in the area of creating favorable conditions of operation for the associated business entities.
