LUG provide lighting for the new subway line

31 January 2014

LUG Light Factory, subsidiary of LUG S.A. Capital Group, concluded the contract for delivery of lighting to the new subway line in Warsaw. The LUG fixtures will light seven stations of the central section of the second subway line, currently under construction.

On 30 January 2014, the subsidiary of LUG S.A. concluded a contract for delivery of comprehensive lighting solutions for the second subway line in Warsaw. The contract includes lighting of the central subway section, currently under construction, which connects Rondo Daszyńskiego with Dworzec Wileński.

The length of the section is about 6 km and it is going to comprise seven stations: Rondo Daszyńskiego, Rondo ONZ, Świętokrzyska, Nowy Świat-Uniwersytet, Centrum Nauki Kopernik, Stadion Narodowy and Dworzec Wileński.

- "In the first half of 2014, we are going to deliver fixtures, which will light the new subway stations and the auxiliary infrastructure. The solutions will be adjusted to the characteristics of such facilities, having improved technical and durability parameters. The contract includes also LED lighting providing high effectiveness and energy saving" explains Ryszard Wtorkowski, President of LUG S.A. Management Board

The contract is among the ones mentioned by the Issuer in the adjustment of the forecasts concerning financial results in 2013, which was made in November. One of the reasons for decreasing the results was movement of the contracts with the total value of about PLN 5 million to 2014.

"The Warsaw subway is one of the investments that were moved forward in time. Therefore, we were forced to adjust our expectations concerning the results. The tender stage was quite long, but I am glad that the comprehensive lighting solutions adjusted to specific demands of that investment met all the requirements," says Ryszard Wtorkowski.

The value of the contract is subject to confidentiality clause.

Warsaw has been waiting for the new subway line since 1995, when the first section was launched. Moreover, the second subway line, crossing the first one, was included in the initial construction plans developed in the 1920s.

"I am glad that our company is going to participate in completion of the long-anticipated project and our fixtures will provide lighting in the subway in Warsaw, the city which is an undisputable centre of the Eastern and Central Europe," adds Ryszard Wtorkowski, the President of LUG S.A. Management Board.

The construction of the central section of the second subway line was started on 16 August 2010. After nearly four years, the investment entered its final stage. LUG is going to deliver the lighting equipment in the first half of 2014 and will apply for more contracts related to that investment.
